I feel like I have way too many 'spots' online. But then again most of them have to do with my artwork and showing my creations off online. I remember really liking the blog I kept for one of my art theory classes years ago, expressing my thoughts towards certain artistic movements or individual pieces, and then when the class was over I didn't really write in it anymore. I kind of miss thinking out loud though.
So this blog will probably be more about my thoughts on spirituality and religion. I consider myself first and foremost a Christian, but that doesn't really mean I can attribute my beliefs to any specific denomination of Christianity. Actually that is probably why I don't attend church on a regular basis, but I do enjoy it from time to time.
My own personal mission is to read about as many religions as possible. I really just want to learn about the different ways that people across the world love and worship God.
To get that fact out of the way, I am certain that there is a God or a higher power, I believe that there is an absolute truth in the world, and I don't really think I'll be arguing that so much on this blog. I am more interested in how other cultures deal with higher powers, what they believe in, and how it is different than what I was brought up with.
Why do people believe what they do? Why do some traditions get carried out for so long? How does the passing of time change messages, and how different are the messages we see being preached now from the ones that were being taught thousands of years ago? Why is one religion better than another? Is there one that is right, making others wrong? I think those are more of the things I struggle with. Since I've decided that there is a God, that seemed to be the next logical step. Okay, I believe in something. Now what do I do with that?

From The Journey of Self-Discovery
Journalist: Do you really think, from a very practical standpoint, that your movement has a chance to make it here in America?
Srila Prabhupada: From what I've seen it has a great chance. We don't say, "Give up your religion and come to us." We say, "At least follow your own principles. And then if you want to, study with us." Sometimes it happens that although students have received their M.A. degree, they go to foreign universities to study more. Why does it happen? They want more enlightenment. Similarly, any religious scrupture you may follow will give you enlightenment. But if you find more in this Krsna consciousness movement, then why should you not accept it? If you are serious about God, why should you say, "Oh, I am Christian," "I am Jewish," "I cannot attend your meeting"? Why should you say, "Oh I cannot allow you to speak in my church"? If I am speaking about God, what objection can you have?
